TREATMENT
- In the harsh South African climate it is essential that all wooden doors and frames are properly treated and sealed on delivery and before installation.
- Lightly sand with a fine sandpaper, dust off and wipe with a damp cloth, then allow too dry.
- Apply first coat of a good quality penetrating wood sealer (in accordance to their application instructions) on all six sides including the hinge cut outs and locks, then allow to dry before applying the second coat.
- If doors are to be painted use a SABS approved universal sealer (in accordance to their application instructions) before painting and apply on all six sides as above.
- Apply a final coat of the wood sealer or paint on the bottom side of the door before final installation, and then on the other 5 sides of the door after final installation.

STORAGE
- It is important to remember that wooden products are affected by fluctuations in temperature and moisture levels.
- Always store in a dry and covered area, do not expose to rain or direct sunlight.
- Once the door and frame is treated pack in a horizontal position (never upright).
- The doors should be packed on evenly spaced bearers (so as to be off the floor) and to spread the load.
- Do not drag the doors and frames over each other or on any other surfaces, handle with care at all times.

MAINTENANCE
- All doors and frames should be treated on a regular basis for protection against the elements and to prolong the life and beauty of the product.
- Use a putty or silicon to patch any gaps between beading, walls and floors to prevent water from entering.
- Re-coat on all six sides again with paint/sealant for optimum protection.
